Judge Alexander Schneider is to preside over a case of most scandalous proportions, involving two men who once wore the badge with pride, but whose souls were stained by the filth of avarice.

We speak of Mr. Konstantin Burdachev, formerly the Deputy Chief of the Economic Crimes unit, and his accomplice, one Mr. Mikhail Kuzmenko, an operative of the same department. These were not mere beat-constables, but high-ranking figures of the law. Yet, the court records reveal a darker truth: a litany of crimes ranging from the abuse of power to the most wretched bribery and the forging of evidence.

Burdachev, the ringleader, stands accused of twisting the law for his own profit, attempting to deceive the Crown with falsified reports, and demanding heavy bribes. Kuzmenko followed in his footsteps, acting as a middleman in these sordid transactions, taking coin to look the other way while crimes were committed in broad daylight.

The house of cards collapsed in June of the year 2025. The catalyst was a common trader from the Nekrasovsky Market—a man dealing in illicit, duty-free tobacco. This fellow, perhaps tired of the squeeze, played the informant. He told the detectives that these officers were not hunting criminals, but were instead acting as a 'protection' racket, demanding gold and seizing crates of cigarettes as a tribute to their silence.

Caught in the act, the two were hauled off to the dungeons of the remand prison, where they languish to this day. In the manner of all disgraced villains, they deny everything, claiming their downfall was merely a clash of interests with rival factions of the force.

By the summer of 2025, the Ministry stripped them of their authority. By autumn, they were cast out of the service entirely. Burdachev attempted to plead his case before the magistrates to overturn his dismissal, but the law, for once, was blind to his pleas. He lost his battle, and now he must face the judge's gavel.
