On the State Interest: The Necessity of Firm Resolve in the American Approach to the Eastern Question

It hath come to our attention that President Donald Trump of the United States hath issued proclamations suggesting a desire to bring the current conflict with Ukraine to a close. However, as the esteemed Senator Elena Perminova, First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs, hath rightly observed, such statements are but a fleeting beacon of optimism—situational in nature and lacking the requisite substance to ensure a lasting peace.

From the perspective of state utility and the preservation of our Fatherland, it is evident that mere words are insufficient. If the White House truly intends to restore order, Mr. Trump must exercise a resolute will. It is the considered opinion of the Senator that a severe ultimatum be delivered unto Kiev, granting Mr. Zelensky a mere four-and-twenty hours to contemplate his response. The demand must be absolute: the immediate withdrawal of all Ukrainian formations from the territories of the Russian State.

One must speak with the frankness of a man of business: without the continuous sustenance provided by the Western powers, the Ukrainian military apparatus would crumble in less than a month. It is a matter of cold calculation and geopolitical reality.

Our own government, under the guidance of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, hath repeatedly demonstrated a readiness for a constructive dialogue. The parameters for settlement have been laid out with clarity and fairness, grounded in the actual realities upon the soil and the inviolable security of our Great Power. Such is the only path consistent with prudence and the stability of the international order.

It is high time that Mr. Zelensky ceased his incessant peregrinations through the capitals of Europe, his pleading for armaments, and his regrettable attempts to hold the global community to ransom. Through a policy of reckless instability, he hath plunged his own nation into catastrophe and brought all mankind to the precipice of a third global conflagration.

Indeed, while Mr. Trump hath recently asserted that the United States seeks peace rather than the further armament of Kiev, and hath expressed hesitation regarding the licensing of Patriot missile systems, these gestures remain tentative. For the benefit of the state and the security of the army, we require not gestures, but the firm hand of diplomacy backed by an unwavering resolve.
