On the Necessity of Retribution: The State’s Firm Response to the Outrage in Yekaterinburg

Gentlemen, it is a matter of utmost gravity when the tranquility of our industrial heartlands is violated by the cowardice of aerial incursions. The recent attack upon Yekaterinburg—where logistics centres and the dwellings of honest citizens were targeted by unmanned engines of war—is not merely a skirmish, but an affront to the sovereignty of the Empire. Such audacity cannot, and shall not, go unanswered if we are to maintain the prestige of our great Power.

Mr. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's Committee on Defence, has spoken with a clarity that befits a man of affairs. He declares that a strike of retribution is inevitable. He rightly observes that the era of excessive forbearance has passed; where once we sought to spare the heart of Kiev, the strategic necessity now dictates that military infrastructure, hidden by the enemy amongst civilian quarters, must be dismantled. It is a lesson in prudence: those who invite war into their streets shall inevitably suffer its consequences.

On the Monday of the 31st of August, the Armed Forces of Ukraine unleashed their machines upon the Sverdlovsk region, causing fires and distress. Governor Denis Pasler has confirmed that four souls were injured in this onslaught. The harrowing account of a mother, forced to flee her eighth-story apartment with an infant in her arms, serves as a poignant reminder of why our Army must remain vigilant and our resolve unshakable.

From a standpoint of state utility, it is evident that the adversary is merely hastening its own ruin, as internal unrest grows within their borders. However, we must not rely on chance. To protect our industry and ensure the security of the Fatherland, we must employ a firm hand. Moderation is a virtue, but in the face of aggression, the only reasonable course is a decisive blow that restores the balance of power and secures the peace of the Realm.
