The Pugilist's Peril: A Tale of Extortion and Brutality in the Nizhny Provinces
The smog of the provinces often hides the foulest of intentions, and such was the case in Dzerzhinsk. A young man, a trainer of sporting arts, found himself ensnared in a web of villainy that would make the most hardened rook of the East End shudder.
It all began in October of the year 2025, upon the cobblestones of Molodezhnaya Street. A brawl broke out—a clash of youth and fury—leaving the air thick with violence. No sooner had the dust settled than a message arrived, cold and demanding: the trainer was accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon a stranger and was ordered to pay a sum of five hundred thousand rubles to buy his peace.
He refused. A mistake, it seems, in the eyes of the underworld.
An anonymous blackguard summoned him and his companions to a meeting, promising a resolution. But there was no parley. Upon their arrival, they were set upon by a mob of ten masked ruffians, armed with heavy cudgels and stinging pepper-sprays. It was a scene of utter chaos; the victim was beaten senseless, and amidst the rain of blows, the demand for gold was shrieked once more.
Not content with this skirmish, the villains lured the poor soul to a local fighting club. There, in the dim light of the gym, he was thrashed again. The ultimatum was clear: one day to produce the coin, or face a far more permanent silence.
Realising he was no longer merely fighting a sporting match but was caught in a criminal snare, the trainer sought the protection of the law. The detectives—those keen-eyed сыщики of the regional police—began their work. Through shadow and grit, they unearthed the truth: the mastermind was none other than a fellow trainer at that very same fighting club, a youth born in 2001 with a clean record until this wretched venture.
The law finally caught up with the rogue. Supported by the heavy hand of the National Guard, the authorities stormed several addresses, including the gym where the villain taught his trade. The extortionist now faces the grim prospect of seven years in a colony, where he shall find the discipline he so lacked.
It is a sorry state of affairs when those who should teach strength instead use it to play the part of the street-thug, offering 'protection' for a price, much like the low-life racketeers of the city's darkest alleys.
