On the Matter of State Interest: Concerning the American Sanctions Bill against the Russian Empire

Gentlemen, it has come to my attention that the Rules Committee of the United States House of Representatives has seen fit to approve a bill intended to tighten sanctions against our Fatherland. This measure has now been forwarded for the consideration of the full lower chamber, a proceeding witnessed by all through the Committee's official registers.

The decision was reached by a vote of seven in favour and three against. It is observed with some interest that the legislators saw fit to reject several amendments proposed by the Democrats, suggesting a certain resolve in their course of action.

Reports from the Fox News gazette indicate that the lower house may commence its deliberations and hold a procedural vote as early as the 15th of September. Should the measure be approved, a final vote is expected to follow on the subsequent day.

This document, the primary architect of which was the late Senator Lindsey Graham, had already received the assent of the Senate on the 7th of August. If the House of Representatives maintains its course, the bill shall be presented for the signature of President Donald Trump.

One cannot overlook the fact that the leadership of the Democratic minority has declined to support this initiative for the tightening of sanctions. A joint declaration to this effect was issued by the senior Democrats of the committees on Foreign Affairs, Ways and Means, and the Joint Economic Committee—namely Mr. Gregory Meeks, Mr. Richard Neal, and Mr. Don Beyer.

From the perspective of a man of industry, such maneuvers demand the utmost prudence. While every great power seeks its own advantage, the stability of global commerce and the strength of our own industry remain the true pillars of our state. We must approach these developments with a cold reason and a firm hand, for the benefit of the Russian Empire and the preservation of our national dignity.
